CAMP SHELBY, Miss. - About 35,000 members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard are set to participate in exercises as part of annual summer training at Camp Shelby this year. National Guard brigades from Louisiana, Tennessee and Mississippi will take part. Among the units are the 155th Brigade Combat Team from Tupelo; 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment from Knoxville, Tenn.; and the 256th Infantry Brigade from Lafayette, La., according to Camp Shelby commander, Col. William “Lee” Henry. The Mississippi National Guard has begun its 12th annual Southern Strike exercise at the Gulfport (Miss.) Combat Readiness Training Center. About 2,000 service members from 15 states are participating there. Camp Shelby is one of the locations conducting training for Southern Strike, which runs through April 27. (WDAM 04/15/23)
