WASHINGTON - President Joe Biden’s re-election campaign has been hiding in plain sight. The shape of the 2024 campaign, that Biden will formally launch with a video as soon as this week, will look a lot like the messaging/policy moves from the past few months: Play up his accomplishments, draw a sharp contrast with Republican policies and brush off the age issue. His aides contend has the President has been campaigning since Republicans took control of the House and focus on showing how his is implementing massive new infrastructure, technology and climate laws, and portraying Republicans as in the grip of the far right. Campaign scuttlebutt: President Biden is expected to tap Julie Rodriguez, a White House adviser, to manage his re-election campaign, two people familiar with deliberations told The AP on April 23. The people spoke on condition of anonymity because her appointment has not been finalized. Rodriguez, a longtime Democrat party activist, also worked in former President Barack Obama's White House. She's the granddaughter of California-based labor leader Cesar Chavez and labor activist Helen Fabela Chávez. Growing up in California she was active in campaigns, picket lines, boycotts, marches and union meetings. (The AP 04/23/023)
