NEW ORLEANS - A Coast Guard helicopter crew medevaced the 69-year-old captain of the motor vessel Overseas Ancortes to medical care in New Orleans. The vessel was about 218 miles offshore of Alabama on April 12. CG Sector Mobile, Ala., received a call at 12:17 p.m. via VHF-FM channel 16 from the crew aboard the motor vessel stating the captain was experiencing heart attack-like symptoms. The CG duty flight surgeon recommended the captain receive higher-level medical care within 8-to-10 hours. A New Orleans-based MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew was launched and hoisted the captain aboard, transferring him to University Medical Center New Orleans. He was last reported to be in stable condition. (Coast Guard 04/13/23)
