VICKSBURG, Miss. - Three employees with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ (USACE) Vicksburg District – Brad Arcement, David Dyer and John Madison - were recognized at the 2020 USACE National Awards Ceremony in Washington, D.C. The annual ceremony honored district employees for outstanding contributions to USACE’s mission categories and specializations, including levee safety, public service and value engineering. Brad Arcement, branch chief for the USACE Levee Safety Center, was named “Levee Safety Professional of the Year.” David Dyer, chief of the district’s Office of Counsel, received the Chief Counsel’s Bert Pettinato and Barb Lollar Award for Pride in Public Service. Dyer holds a bachelor’s degree from Tulane, and a master’s in business administration from Loyola University of New Orleans. John Madison, a value engineering officer for the Engineering and Technical Services Branch, received the Value Engineering Professional Award in the “Wild Duck” category, which recognizes an officer who has demonstrated a high degree of determination and integrity. Madison holds a master’s degree in biosystems engineering from Mississippi State. USACE’s Vicksburg District encompasses a 68,000-square-mile area across portions of Mississippi, Arkansas and Louisiana, and that holds seven major river basins and incorporates about 460 miles of mainline Mississippi River levees.
