The Navy’s Blue Angels flight demonstration squadron’s C-130J logistics and support aircraft, known as “Fat Albert” and flown by Marine pilots, flew toys into Lake Charles (La.) Regional Airport on Dec. 8 where Marines from Marine Forces Reserve, representing the Marine Toys for Tots program, and volunteers unloaded the toys and delivered them to the local Toys for Tots coordinators for distribution in surrounding parishes. Santa, through his Marine connections, reached out to the Blue Angels looking for early alternative transportation to delivery gifts to kids affected by the pandemic and Lake Charles’ multiple hurricanes this year. The Blue Angels offered the C-130 for the holiday season. The team conducted the event in collaboration with Hasbro Inc., product philanthropy non-profit organization Good360, and Santa Claus. “When we received the call from Santa asking for a helping hand with an early toy delivery, we knew we were the right team for the job,” said Capt. Rick Rose, lead U.S. Marine Corps pilot of the C-130 demonstration. (Source: Blue Angels 12/09/20)
