JACKSON, Miss. - Mississippians voters turned out in record numbers for the November 2020 elections, according to final numbers released by the secretary of state’s office. The state’s record turnout still lagged behind most states. In November’s election, 1,313,894 Mississippians voted. Total turnout broke the previous record of 2008, when 1,289,865 voted. President Donald Trump captured the most votes of any candidate running in a contested election in Mississippi with 756,789 votes (57.6%). Former Sen. John McCain was the previous top vote-getter with 724,597 votes in 2008.
