WRIGHT-PATTERSON AFB, Ohio - The Air Force Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer program announced its release schedule for Fiscal Year 2021 open topics during day two of the AFWERX Accelerate event. In coordination with the Department of Defense, AFWERX will release three open topics. The first call opens on Jan. 14 and closes Feb. 18, 2021, while the others open in May and September and close after 30 days. In FY19, AF SBIR/STTR expanded the use of the open-topics solicitation process to address areas of importance to the Air and Space Force. Air Force Col. Nathan Diller, AFWERX director, explained the many benefits of using this process during the livestreamed event.
