Presley leads MS Guv in recent poll

Republicans' worst fears about Mississippi's gubernatorial race could be coming to fruition after a Tulchin Research poll found Gov. Tate Reeves trailing Democrat Brandon Presley, a 4-time public service commissioner and distant cousin of Elvis, by 4 points. Reeves' first term has been marred by low approval ratings and controversies, including his handling a drinking water crisis in Jackson. Forty-seven percent of respondents said they planned to back Presley in the general election, while 43 percent said they would support Reeves. The poll surveyed 500 likely voters from January 21- 25 with a margin of error of plus or minus 4.38 percentage points. Editor's Note: The margin of error places the survey results as basically undecided or a dead heat with Presley's numbers anywhere between 42.62% to 51.38%. Reeves numbers anywhere between 46.38% to 41.62%.
