Mississippi Gaming Commission Chairman Al Hopkins, 81, died Feb. 12 after a battle with cancer. He was in the third term as chairman, having been appointed in 2015. Hopkins retired from the Mississippi Nation Guard as a major general and was an assistant adjutant general. He was a former president of the Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time. (WXXV 02/13/23) He earned a bachelor’s degrees in English and History from Delta State University; Juris Doctor degree from the University of Mississippi School of Law; and a bachelor’s degree in biblical studies from William Carey University.
