SSC: Next 'giant leap for mankind'

Another 'giant leap for mankind' is in the process of happening at Stennis Space Center, Miss. The NASA facility is gearing up for history in deep space exploration. In the 1960s, Dr. Werner Van Braun once said: ‘I don’t know yet what method we will use to get to the moon, but I do know that we have to go through Mississippi to get there.’ If all goes well, NASA will be making another giant leap for mankind by putting the first woman and first person of color on the moonNASA plans to do this through its Artemis program and Stennis is home to its (RS-25) rocket engine testing site. “The RS-25 engine is one of the most incredible engines ever built," Test Operations Engineer Joshua Griner told WXXV-TV. "It’s the Cadillac of engines.” There have been women and women of color working at NASA for decades. "So, to have them bring in the fold and make that priority is an incredibly historical thing to do,” Griner said.
