CLINTON, Miss. - Milwaukee Tools plans to close its Clinton manufacturing plant by the end of September. The plant employs 150 people. The factory, which manufactures cordless power tools, began production in late 2021. The decision is to transition operations from Clinton and relocate activities to MT's other facilities. The change will come as “a rolling close,” according to a company statement, which will be necessary in order to improve the performance of the firm's supply chain. Marlee Price, with the city of Clinton, said the news was delivered Feb. 9 from company's HQ in Wisconsin. “It’s definitely a shock,” Price told WLBT. A Clinton-based MT employee, who didn't want to be identified, told WLBT the news came during a sudden plant-wide meeting. Employees were told they would be let go in April, the worker said. Techtronic Industries currently owns the company. (WLBT 02/10/23) MT currently employs more than 10,000 workers in the U.S. - 4,000 in Mississippi.
