Fourteen aviators received their “Wings of Gold” during a recent winging ceremony aboard NAS Meridian, Miss. It marks the culmination of nearly two years of specialized training, which has prepared these officers for aerial combat and carrier operations - earning each the title of “Naval Aviator.” Roger Burke, president of the Mississippi Council of the Navy League, presented Marine Capt. Zachary Vanwettering with the Golden Stick award that signifies the student with the highest composite score during training. (Skyline 02/16/23) (5) Facebook
