In a long-standing tradition of Mardi Gras, the USS Gunston Hall (LSD 44) will be the official Navy guest ship of Mobile, Ala.’s 2023 Carnival Season. The USS Gunston Hall is a dock landing ship with a flight deck that can handle helicopters and Osprey aircraft, plus a well deck for storing and launching a variety of amphibious craft. The ship is expected in the Mobile Ship Channel shortly after daybreak on Feb. 17 and arriving at the Cruise Terminal at 10 a.m. The ship will remain in port until Ash Wednesday. Public tours will be from Feb. 18-21. Tours will take place from 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. daily at the Alabama Cruise Terminal.
