The Defense Health Agency’s Military Health Benefits (MHB) program that spends about $23B in health care contracts for military service members and their families has not accurately identified how much it has overspend in error, according to a Pentagon inspector general's report. The report says the program "did not have adequate processes to identify improper payments" or reliable wrongful payment estimates for FY 2021. Improper payments include over payments and under payments. The MHB program provides TRICARE health care services to more than 9 million military personnel, veterans, retirees and their families, the IG report noted.
