PASCAGOULA, Miss. - The Enviva wood pellet plant in Lucedale is about to go into production, which means the Port of Pascagoula may see an additional 10 percent growth to the 25M tons of cargo it handles annually, according to port director Mark McAndrews. “We built part of the terminal and the infrastructure, and they’re building the rest,” he told WLOX. Envina will transport the pellets by rail to the port, and stored in two domes that each hold 45,000 tons of pellets. "This is going be an extra 10 percent for us, which is pretty substantial,” McAndrews added. (Source: WLOX 01/13/22) The Lucedale plant is Envina’s newest wood pellet production plant in Mississippi. The first opened in Amory about 10 years ago. Construction of the Lucedale facility is expected to be completed this year.
