The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has issued a call for nominations to serve on the inaugural . The IoTAB would provide advice to the IoT federal working group on identification of any federal statutes, regulations, budgetary challenges and other sector-specific policies that could impede IoT development; challenges and opportunities related to the use of IoT technologies by small businesses, according to a notice published Jan. 13. The 16-member board would advise on situations in which the use of IoT is likely to bring societal and economic benefits to the U.S., including smart traffic and transit technologies; health care; public safety; supply chains and augmented logistics; precision agriculture; environmental monitoring; and sustainable infrastructure. The board will submit a report with recommendations and findings to the federal working group. The secretary of commerce will appoint board members, who will serve two-year terms.
