NEW ORLEANS - The Coast Guard rescued a stranded 86-year-old kayaker on Jan. 15 near Slidell, La. CG Sector New Orleans received a call around 4:30 p.m. from St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office requesting assistance for a kayaker stranded due to the weather on the Pearl River. The CG launched an MH-65 Dolphin crew from CG Air Station New Orleans to assist. The helicopter crew found and safely hoisted the kayaker and transporting him to awaiting emergency medical services personnel at the air station. The man was last reported to be in stable condition.
