NOLA mayor: Mardi Gras is a go

New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell says the 2022 Mardi Gras carnival season has the green, purple and gold lights to go. Krewe members and the city officially welcomed the start of Carnival on Jan. 6 at the annual King's Day Celebration. "Without a doubt, we will have Mardi Gras 2022," Mayor Cantrell declared. It was a bittersweet day. Louisiana marked a new single-day record in COVID-cases. New Orleans reported a nearly 32 percent positivity test rate. The city has 92 percent of adults vaccinated, she asserted, and has "done everything necessary" to protect revelers for Mardi Gras. Her message to those coming to New Orleans to celebrate: Come vaccinated, masked, and COVID-free. (Source: WWL 01/06/21) Schedule: List: Mardi Gras 2022 Parade Schedule | wwltv.com
