Ex-CAFB vice to lead 27th SOW

CANNON AFB, N.M. - Cannon Air Force Base will welcome a new wing commander to its 27th Special Operations Wing on May 24. Colonel Terence G. Taylor will relinquish command to Colonel Jeremy S. Bergin at the change of command ceremony at 9 a.m. 

Bergin returns for a fourth tour at Cannon which began in August 2015, He was Operations Officer at the 20th SOS at Cannon; a year later as Commander of the 20th followed by a tour as Deputy Commander of the 27th Special Operations Group.

Bergin is coming to Clovis, N.M., from the 14th Flying Training Wing at Columbus AFB, Miss., where he served as the Vice Wing Commander. (KFDA 05/22/23) 


Editor Note: At the CAFB wing he was responsible for day-to-day operations of base support functions and mission activities for nearly 3,000 military, civilian and contract Airmen. 

Bergin began his AF career in 1994 as an intelligence analyst before being selected for the Scholarships for Outstanding Airmen to ROTC program. He received his commission in the AF in 2001 as a Distinguished Graduate of the Reserve Officer Training Corps at Arizona State University. 

Colonel Bergin is a command pilot with nearly 3,800 hours in the T-1A, C-130E, MC-130H, and CV-22B. 

Additionally, Colonel Bergin has commanded special operations forces in both garrison and combat at the squadron level and served as the Director of Operations for the Joint Special Operations Air Component-Central, Special Operations Command-Central, USCENTCOM. 

He served two tours at the AF Special Operations Command's Hurlburt Field, Fla., as an MC-130H Instructor Pilot with the 15th SOS and again as Assistant Operations Officer of that command.
