COLUMBUS AFB, Miss. - Lt. Gen. Brian Robinson, commander of Air Education and Training Command, and his wife Maureen was aboard CAFB on May1-2 to take their first look at the 14th Flying Training Wing's (14th FTW) daily operations and challenges as the "First Command to produce America's Airmen."
CAFB has a "key role" in producing pilots as its main mission, Lt. Gen. Robinson asserted, and "you develop and produce Airmen in all (Air Force specialty codes) as they go through follow-on training after initial technical schools," and take care of their families.
The Robinsons also received a housing and dormitory tours before splitting up for time with separate groups of Airmen.
Mrs. Robinson met with base spouses and toured the child development center and military and family readiness center. The general toured base squadrons and Task Force 14 and the Comprehensive Readiness for Aircrew Flying Training (CRAFT) program.
"I am exceptionally proud of Team 14 and the incredible work they do day in and day out to build the future of our national defense," base commander Col. Justin T. Grieve said. Equally important was that the Airmen got to hear how their tactical expertise across diverse career fields translates into "strategic success for the nation," he said.
Before departing, the general hosted a wing-wide all-call, providing insight into how the 14th FTW's mission is important to the AETC and AF's overall mission. The all-call concluded with Robinson presenting AETC-level awards to 2022 winners:
* 2nd Lt. Peyton Craven, 14th FTW, with the Capt. Bradley R. Schuldt Outstanding Communication Company Grade Officer;
* Master Sgt. Peter Schueler, 50th Flying Training Squadron, AETC Senior NCO;
* Mr. John Wooten, 14th Civil Engineering Squadron, Category II Civilian Non-Supervisory;
