JACKSON, Miss. - In recognition of the importance economic development plays in the growth and prosperity, Gov. Tate Reeves proclaimed May 8-12 as Economic Development Week in Mississippi. The proclamation is in conjunction with the International Economic Development Council’s Economic Development (IEDCED) Week. “Mississippi set economic development records last year,” said Reeves. “We brought in a record of over $6B in new capital investment and finalized the largest economic development project in our state’s history" through $2.5B by Steel Dynamics in the Golden Triangle Region. The proclamation highlights major contributions of economic developers to local communities and those efforts to increase the quality of life for all Mississippians. Economic Development Week was created in 2016 by IEDC, the largest international professional trade association for economic developers. (Mississippi Development Authority 05/08/23)
