U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo announced six programs on July 22 that collectively called Investing in America’s Communities that the Economic Development Administration (EDA) will execute to equitably invest $3B in grants it received from the President’s American Rescue Plan. The EDA investment is the largest economic development initiative from the Department of Commerce in decades. Investing in America’s Communities includes: Build Back Better Regional Challenge ($1B); Good Jobs Challenge ($500M); Economic Adjustment Assistance ($500M); Indigenous Communities ($100M); Travel, Tourism and Outdoor Recreation ($750M); and Statewide Planning, Research and Networks ($90M).
