In August, a Navy panel will select the initial group of Aviation Warrant Officers to train to fly Boeing-built MQ 25 drone aircraft. The new identification for those with a specialty in flying the unmanned aerial vehicle, Aerial Vehicle Operator warrant officer, was announced in December. Within a decade, the Navy expects to have about 450 personnel within the 737X specialty designation. A board will meet Aug. 2 to select the initial cadre of volunteers. Those chosen will go to Officer Candidate School in Newport, R.I., as well as basic flight and advanced training with the MQ-25. The Navy's call for applicants was released June 28. Applications are due by July 26. (Source: UPI 06/30/21) U.S. Navy to choose first cadre of MQ-25 drone operators - UPI.com
