COLUMBUS AFB, Miss - The 14th Communications Squadron held a Change of Command ceremony July 1 with out-going commander Maj. Brandon Palmer relinquishing command to Maj. Elizabeth Rainwater. Rainwater is a career cyber officer, who recently came to CAFB from duty as Director of Operations at the 509th Communications Squadron at Whiteman AFB, Mo. She supported more than 5,000 personnel and provided trained and ready cyber professionals to support the B-2 Spirit, an A-10 Wing, an MQ-9 Reaper Squadron, and a UH 60 battalion. The mission of the 14th CS is to provide communications and information tools to produce pilots and advance Airmen. Under Palmer, the 14th CS drove a $2.5M base telecommunication systems upgrade, which eliminated 30,000 cyber threats to operations. Palmer’s tour also oversaw 11 key projects totaling $1M, the highest across the AF. (Source: CAFB 07/01/21)
