The National Weather Service has a new leader for the 2022 Atlantic Hurricane Season. Ken Graham, a meteorologist who once ran weather forecasting out of Slidell, La., and oversaw one of the busiest spurts of Atlantic hurricane activity on record will take over immediately. Graham got his start in New Orleans in 1994 as an intern meteorologist, and on to Slidell. He led that office for 10 years, overseeing forecasts for SE Louisiana and south Mississippi. During his time in New Orleans, Graham established two command centers in the wake of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in 2010. He also led the effort to support officials in Louisiana and Mississippi after hurricanes Gustav, Ike, Isaac, and during the historic 2017 season. He also has a degree from Mississippi State University. (Source: NOLA.com 06/06/22) Former New Orleans forecaster named director of National Weather Service | Hurricane Center | nola.com
