MSU duo nat'l Astronaut Scholars

STARKVILLE, Miss. - Two Mississippi State University undergraduate students, both studying in the Shackouls Honors College and Bagley College of Engineering’s Accelerate initiative, were among 68 nationwide selected as Astronaut Scholars. The MSU duo selected are Britain Steele, a junior aerospace engineering major from Mount Juliet, Tenn., and Emma Wade, a senior computer science major from Decatur, Ala., are recipients of the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation’s 2022 Astronaut Scholars Class, which includes students from 45 universities. The scholarship, founded by the six surviving Mercury 7 Astronauts in 1984, supports and college students pursuing degrees in STEM-based fields. Steele becomes a two-time Astronaut Scholar. Wade, a 4.0 student plans to pursue a doctorate in computational biology, continue her research and transition into teaching. (Source: MSU 06/02/22) MSU’s Steele, Wade join prestigious Astronaut Scholars | Mississippi State University (msstate.edu)
