A non-compliant male, with no military affiliation, approached the Main Gate of Naval Air Station Meridian, Miss. around 11 a.m. on June 2. He refused to comply or exit the vehicle after stopped by NASM's Security Forces. The main gate was secured /closed down until 12:45 p.m. when it was re-opened. Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department was on scene and transported the individual to a local hospital in the custody of the Sheriff’s Department, according to NASM's Facebook page. “Our top priority is the safety and welfare of those who work and live onboard NAS Meridian,” said Capt. Timothy B. Moore, Commanding Officer. “We are thankful for our partnership with the Sheriff’s Department and their assistance during this incident today.” (Source: NAS Meridian 06/02/22)
