BATON ROUGE - The Environmental Leadership Awards (ELP) highlight efforts of schools, industry and communities to take ownership of their environment, according to Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ) Secretary Dr. Chuck Carr Brown.
LDEQ hosted the ELP Awards ceremony here at agency headquarters and Brown presented nine awards.
OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT AWARD - Compost NOW (New Orleans Waste) for Community Environmental Outreach: Community Garden Composting.
ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS – Jefferson Parish Department of Environmental Affairs for community environmental outreach for the Jefferson Parish Environmental stewardship program; New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center for Pollution Prevention for major energy and water reductions projects at the Convention Center; and Tangipahoa Parish Government for Pollution Prevention for Tangipahoa Parish waterway enhancement/Litter Vessel Project.
RECOGNITION AWARDS –Alliance Compressors, Natchitoches for Pollution Prevention: Assembly area LED lighting upgrade project; Capital Area Corporate Recycling Council (CACRC) for Community Environmental Outreach: COVID computer distribution; Exxon Mobil Product Solutions for Pollution Prevention: Baton Rouge Refinery recycling of hazardous materials; New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center for Community Environmental Outreach: Talking Trash at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center; and Port of New Orleans for Pollution Prevention: Container on Barge, American Marine Highway Emissions Reductions.
