U.S. Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy was ousted from his leadership role on Oct. 3 - a first in American history - after he had brokered a stop-gap spending measure to avoid a federal government shutdown.
The question now is, who will replace him? McCarthy was ousted on a 216-210 vote.
The names being thrown out ranged from Rep. Mark Green (R-Tenn.) to bringing in an outsider (read: Donald Trump), which was hinted at by Rep. Matt Gaetz (R- Fla.) who called for the vote to oust McCarthy.
Other names that are currently being thrown into the ring include Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.), who was out of the gate making calls early, according to Politico.
