JACKSON, Miss. - Looking for a job? Steel Dynamics Inc. is hiring.
Mississippi lawmakers approved nearly $247M in incentives during last year's special session for what the governor said is the largest economic project in Mississippi history.
The project promises to create about 1,000 jobs with an average salary of nearly $100,000. SDI is building the plant in Lowndes County that will recycle aluminum and another facility that will process ash for production.
The Indiana-based company already owns a steel mill near Columbus, Miss.
Open application days are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 14 and 12 noon to 4 p.m. on Oct. 15 at The Communiversity, 7003 Frontage Road in Columbus.
Jobs include electrical and mechanical engineering, operations, metallurgy, maintenance, construction, manufacturing, shipping, equipment operations and administration.
Some of the technical jobs require a 4-year degree or equivalent experience, but other jobs, including production work, will consider candidates with a high school degree or GED, according to a news release.
