MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Cleotha Abston, 38, has been charged with kidnapping of a Tennessee woman who was out jogging early Sept. 2, when she was accosted and forced into an SUV, police said Sept. 4. The jogger, Eliza Fletcher, has not been found, but Memphis police arrest affidavit indicates they have evidence that leads them to believe she was seriously injured in the abduction near the University of Memphis campus. Authorities have said they have surveillance video of the abduction. Police say they found Abston’s DNA on a pair of sandals found near where Fletcher was last seen. Police also linked the vehicle to a person living at a residence where Abston was staying. He attempted to elude U.S. Marshals at that residence, but was captured. Memphis police said early Sept. 4 Abston has been charged with especially aggravated kidnapping and tampering with evidence. They said that the investigation continues.
