President Biden announced the nomination of a Todd Gee for U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Mississippi and two U.S. Marshals – Michael Purnell and Dale Bell - for Mississippi. Gee has served as Deputy Chief of the Public Integrity Section for the U.S. Department of Justice since 2018. Gee received his J.D. from Tulane Law School in 2003 and B.A. from George Washington University in 1999. He is a native of Vicksburg. Purnell was nominated for United States Marshal for the Northern District of Mississippi. He has served as Lieutenant and Executive Officer of the Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol since 2020.Purnell received a B.A. from Jackson State University in 1993. Bell was nominated for U.S. Marshall to the Southern District of Mississippi. He is a professional protection officer for a private security service in Hernando. Bell began his law enforcement career as a Corrections Deputy for the Hinds County Mississippi Sheriff’s Department from 1995-98. The Public Integrity Section, created in 1976 after the Watergate scandal, prosecutes criminal abuses of public trust by government officials. It investigates and prosecutes alleged misconduct of public officials in all three branches of federal government, plus state and local public officials.
