Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans held a change of command ceremony June 13 onboard Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base New Orleans.
Cmdr. Armell V. Balmaceda relieved Cmdr. Keith W. Blair as commanding officer.
Balmaceda earned his designation as a Coast Guard aviator in 2006 and has accumulated over 3,000 flight hours.
He comes to New Orleans from serving as the engineering officer at USCG Air Station Clearwater, Fla., the largest department in USCG aviation.
Following the change of command ceremony, there was a retirement event for Blair, honoring his 22 years of service, and presented with the Meritorious Service Medal. (Currents 07/01/23)
