NEW ORLEANS - The Coast Guard medevaced a 42-year-old man from a lift boat about three miles south of Pecan Island, La., on the morning of July 15.
The CG received a call at 1:12 a.m. from the captain of the vessel requesting assistance to medevac a crewmember aboard reportedly having heart-attack-like symptoms.
The CG launched a New Orleans-based MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew. The crew hoisted the man aboard and transferred him to awaiting emergency medical services personnel at the Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center.

The man was last reported in stable condition.
Background: Pecan Island is an unincorporated community with a population of about 300 located in Vermilion Parish, La.
A liftboat is a self-propelled, self-elevating vessel used in support of various offshore mineral exploration and production or offshore construction activities.
CG rescues stranded boaters
NEW ORLEANS - The Coast Guard rescued two boaters July 13 from their capsized vessel about two miles south of Point Au Fer Island, La., about 23 miles SSW of Houma.
The CG got a call from St. Mary Parish 911 dispatch of a 35-foot fishing vessel taking on water with two people aboard at 10:24 p.m. Thursday evening. The CG launched a New Orleans-based MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew.
The Terrebonne and St. Mary parishes' sheriff's offices also launched small boat crews.
The Jayhawk located the vessel and hoisted the boaters aboard and transporting them to the Houma-Terrebonne Airport. Both boaters were last reported to be in stable condition. Editor's Note: Click here to download video.
