L3Harris Technologies Inc., Colorado Springs, Colorado, has been awarded a $17,000,000 contract modification (P00203) to previously awarded contract (FA8823-20-C-0004) for period four Space Fence System Sustainment Services. The modification brings the total cumulative face value of the contract to $705,851,350. Work will be performed in Colorado Springs; Kwajalein Atoll, Republic of the Marshall Islands; Eglin Air Force Base, Florida; and Huntsville, Alabama. It is expected to be completed by Jan. 31, 2024. Fiscal 2023 operations and maintenance funds in the amount of $11,000,000 are being obligated at the time of award. Backgrund: The Space Fence is a second-generation space surveillance system operated by the United States Space Force in order to track artificial satellites and space debris in Earth orbit. Contracts were issued for development and construction in 2014 and became operational in the 4th quarter of 2019. The initial space fence facility was located at Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands, along with an option for another radar site in Western Australia.
