Millions of Americans are about to have their food stamp distribution cut by about $90/ month starting in March. The cuts are the result of the end of a nearly 3-year pandemic hunger relief program. Some of the nation's largest families may see their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) cut as much as $250, according to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities. Thirty-two states, and District of Columbia, still have been giving qualified families the emergency SNAP allotments. Eighteen states already made the decision to end benefits. The average food stamp benefit for qualified Americans will go down to about $6/day compared to the $9 currently provided with the pandemic boost. (Emergency Email & Wireless Network 03/01/23)
