PASCAGOULA, Miss - Bollinger Mississippi Shipbuilding kicked off construction of T-ATS 10, the future USNS Muscogee Creek Nation, with a steel-cutting ceremony last week. It was the fifth Bollinger-built T-ATST-ATS that are to replace the aging Safeguard-class rescue and salvage ships and Powhatan-class tugboats. The future USNS Muscogee Creek Nation is the 10th Navajo-class Towing, Salvage and Rescue Ship (“T-ATS”) being constructed by Bollinger since acquiring the program in April 2021. Named for the Muscogee Creek Nation, the ship honors the self-governed Native American tribe located in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. The Muscogee Creek Nation is the fourth largest tribe in the U.S. Bollinger is also constructing USNS Navajo (T-ATS 6), USNS Cherokee Nation (T-ATS 7), USNS Saginaw Ojibwe Anishinabek (T-ATS 8) and the USNS Lenni Lenape (T-ATS 9). Bollinger has 14 shipyards located throughout the Louisiana and Mississippi Gulf Coast. It is the largest vessel repair company in the Gulf of Mexico region.
