The Hattiesburg, Miss., area’s next industrial development got a $9.9M grant from the Mississippi Development Authority for the Eagle One Forrest-Lamar Mega Site, a 2,222-acre site designed to attract new, large-scale clients to the Hub City. The funds will be used to clear the site and build an all-weather access road to the site. (HubCitySpokes 03/06/23) The site's name evolved due to the road/rail network connecting Hattiesburg to Gulfport/Biloxi, Jackson, Mobile and New Orleans. This convenient distance to regional cities has allowed Greater Hattiesburg to grow into a major hub for South Mississippi. The “Greater Hattiesburg” area is comprised of Forrest, Lamar and Perry counties. The site is located 70 miles from the Mississippi Gulf Coast; 86 miles from Mobile; and 103 miles from New Orleans.
