LOCKPORT, La. - Bollinger Shipyard has delivered the USCGC Douglas Denman to the Coast Guard in Key West, Fla. It's the 175th vessel Bollinger has delivered to the Coast Guard over a 35-year period, and 49th Fast Response Cutter (FRC) delivered. “Pound for pound, the quality and capabilities of the FRC platform is unmatched," said Bollinger President/CEO Ben Bordelon. It can be "looked upon as a model government acquisition program." The USCGC Denman will travel to Alaska where it will be commissioned Sept. 28 at its new homeport of Ketchikan. The new FRC will safeguard the public, protect the environment and defend the nation’s interests in the Alaskan maritime region, he concluded. The 17th CG district encompasses over 3,853,500 square miles and 47,300-plus miles of shoreline throughout Alaska and the Arctic. Bollinger earns 17th straight SCA safety award: LOCKPORT, La. – Bollinger Shipyards was presented with the 2021 “Award for Excellence in Safety” by the Shipbuilders Council of America (SCA) for its exceptional record of safety in the shipyard industry. Bollinger has been the recipient of the Excellence in Safety award for 17 consecutive years. Bollinger also earned the Shipbuilders Council of America awards for Significant Safety Achievement and Improvement in Safety.
