GRAND ISLE, La. - Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries enforcement agent, Sgt. Stephen Rhodes, resuscitated a 7-year-old girl and helped rescue eight other people from a capsized boat in Grand Isle on May 7. Rhodes saw the boat taking on water before capsizing. Some good Samaritans took him to his truck to launch his boat in order to get to the capsized boat. Arriving alongside the boat, Rhodes jumped into the water to look for the girl, who he found under the boat. She was unresponsive. Rhodes started CPR and revived her, the DWF said. An EMS crew at Bridgeside Marina stabilized the girl, who was airlifted to Children’s Hospital in New Orleans. She is expected to make a full recovery, according to a news release from DWF.
