ROLLING FORK, Miss. - Historical trail markers have returned to Rolling Fork.
On Nov. 4, the Mississippi delta community - devastated by March 24 tornadoes - saw a rededication of local historical markers thanks to the Mississippi Humanities Council, which approved $15,000+ emergency funding for the city of Rolling Fork.
"It's really going to give them sense that they can do it too," said Kam Ridley of the Mississippi Humanities Council.
The funds will support the replacement of the "Muddy Waters Mississippi Blues" trail marker, help replace the damage to signage about Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt, Holt Collier and Rolling Forks history.
It's going to " give them something physical that they can see every day and really lean on the strength of what this community has done for them," Ridley told WAPT.
“The good thing about it all is that this is proof that Rolling Fork is on its way back,” Rolling Fork Mayor Eldridge Walker told WAPT. (WAPT 11/05/23)
