Mississippi has received a significant share of defense contracts, with 80 out of 82 counties receiving government contracts for military spending between 2000-20, amounting to $72B+. Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula is the largest manufacturing employer in the Magnolia State. It has more than 11,000 employees and plans to hire thousands this year.
