Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey signed into law a $20M investment to the Alabama State Port Authority for upgrades to the McDuffie Coal Terminal at the Port of Mobile. The $20M was part of the $3B General Fund budget. The funds will be used to upgrade the coal terminal for exports, as demand for metallurgical coal, mined in the Tuscaloosa area, increases worldwide. Met coal is a key ingredient in the manufacturing of steel. (AL.com 06/10/23)
