BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - A lawsuit has been settled for more than $62,000 by Sanderson Farms of Mississippi following being sued for disability discrimination against a disabled employee at its McComb plant.
On June 14, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced Sanderson Farms LLC and Sanderson Farms LLC (Processing Division) agreed to pay $62,384 and “furnish equitable relief” to settle the suit.
“Protecting workers’ right to seek accommodation for a disability without fear of retaliation is a central component of the EEOC’s mission,” said EEOC’s Birmingham District’s regional attorney, Marsha Rucker.
EEOC says the alleged conduct violates the Americans with Disabilities Act. (WDAM 06/17/23) Sanderson Farms settles disability discrimination lawsuit in McComb for more than $62K (wdam.com)
