SAN DIEGO - General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) announced June 30 it was awarded a contract from General Dynamics Applied Physical Sciences to perform propulsion system design, modeling, technical evaluation and analysis supporting the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency’s (DARPA) Advanced Propulsor, Experimental (APEX) program.
The APEX program is intended to develop and demonstrate a new generation of propulsion technology designs to power submarines and other undersea vehicles.
Phase 1 of the APEX program will last 24 months. General Dynamics Applied Physical Sciences is the prime contractor.
GA-EMS will perform propulsion system design, engineering and analysis in its Boston, Mass., facility.
