WASHINGTON - House of Representatives' Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy announced Jan. 23 that Rep. Michael Guest of Mississippi's 3rd District has been chosen to serve as Chairman of the House's Committee on Ethics. The Committee is bipartisan and comprised of 10 members 5 GOP & 5 Dems). The committee provides mandatory ethics training; investigates alleged violations of the House rules; and reviews financial disclosure statements. Guest had been serving as acting head of the committee since Aug. 19 following the death of ranking-member Jackie Walorski. (WTOK 01/23/23)
*Prior to being elected to Congress, Guest was district attorney for both Madison and Rankin counties. He has a bachelor's degree from Mississippi State University and a law degree from the University of Mississippi.
