The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) ran 24 war-game scenarios in which China attempted an amphibious invasion of Taiwan in 2026. In most cases, the U.S. prevailed, but how'd we know the details? War games are for civilian and military decision-makers to test strategies or plan for conflict. They're generally highly classified and assumptions and methodologies are never explained in detail publicly. Taiwan has emerged as a point of major contention between Washington and Beijing. So, CSIS took the unusual step of releasing its findings and methodology. The conclusions are sobering.
