A major proposal from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency requiring removal of lead pipes connecting customers to public drinking water systems could go a long way in reducing lead poisoning in Louisiana, but at a huge price tag.
The proposed EPA rules would require the removal of water service lines made of lead within 10 years.
