Leonardo delivered its 700th American-made helicopter - AW119Kx single-engine aircraft - from its production facility in Philadelphia to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
Leonardo began producing helicopters on its FAA Part 21-certified Philadelphia production line in 2004. It's 26-acre campus employs nearly 1,000.
It has grown over the years to assemble the AW119 and AW139 models and their military variants - the Navy’s TH-73A training helicopter and the AF’s MH-139 in partnership with Boeing.
In addition to its Philadelphia campus, Leonardo operates U.S.-based customer support and service facilities in Broussard, La., as its Gulf of Mexico Support Center; and (at NAS Whiting Field in) Milton, Fla. Home to the TH-73A for multi-service helicopter training. (AIN 12/14/23) Leonardo Philadelphia Celebrates 700th Helicopter Delivery | Aviation International News (ainonline.com)
