JACKSON, Miss. - The Mississippi State Board of Education announced Dec. 20 it has selected Dr. Lance Evans, superintendent of the New Albany (Miss.) School District, as state superintendent of education.
Evans will succeed Dr. Ray Morgigno, who was appointed to serve as interim state superintendent of education from July 1 through June 30, 2024.
Evans was one of four semifinalists interviewed.
Evans has spent 24 years working in education and is the 2023 Mississippi Association of School Administrators' Superintendent of the Year. He has led the New Albany School District since 2017. (WAPT 12/20/23) State Board of Education names new superintendent (wapt.com)
